Hilltop’s Favorite Spring Happenings in the Triangle

It’s easy to understand why spring is a favorite season for many North Carolinians. Flowers are blooming, temperatures are {mostly} temperate, and there’s no shortage of fun events to enjoy with friends and family. To help you fill your spring weekends, we’ve rounded up a few of our favorite events going on across the Triangle this season:
Pittsboro, Saturdays
Visit The Belted Goat at The Fearrington Inn on Saturdays at 3pm for a free wine tasting. The Goat is Fearrington Village’s personal wine and coffee shop and boasts knowledgeable and helpful sommeliers who will hand-select wines for the tasting and guide you through choosing the perfect bottle to take home to enjoy.
Raleigh, April 7th
Enjoy the spring beauty of the JC Raulston Arboretum at the Raulston Blooms Festival from 9 am to 4 pm. At only $10 per family (free for JCRA members), there’s no excuse not to enjoy unique food trucks, local artisans and more! You can also spruce up your garden by purchasing plants, getting advice from garden specialists and entering in the 18th annual birdhouse competition!
Durham, April 27 – 29th
Calling all Jazz and Funk lovers! The Art of Cool Fest 2018 is celebrating its 5th anniversary. The event includes numerous live performances as well as a celebratory brunch to meet and mingle. A key event for Durham’s budding music scene, past festivals have included jazz-funk greats such as Terrace Martin & the Polly Seeds and George Clinton with Parliament Funkadelic.
Chapel Hill, Thursdays June - August
Presented by the Town of Chapel Hill and Downtown Chapel Hill, Movies under the Stars is the quintessential summer evening event. The recurring event runs June through August on Thursday evenings at 8:30 pm. The event is free, so make it the perfect date night or family night and pick up a bite from one of Franklin Street’s many eateries to dine under the stars.
Cary, May 5th
Do you consider yourself a novice sommelier, an amateur foodie, or both? If so, then Cary’s Great Grapes Wine and Food Festival is the event for you! Hosted at Koka Booth Amphitheatre on May 5th, the festival brings together the Triangle’s best wine producers, restaurants, artisans and musicians for a fun-filled afternoon. Save yourself a few dollars by purchasing tickets early – VIP early bird is $49 and general admission is $33 in advance.
